The Example of Timothy
In this passage Paul expresses his hope to send Timothy, his beloved coworker in the gospel, to the Philippians. Paul’s desire is not merely to remind them of the truths he has already taught but to provide them with a living example of those truths in action. Timothy’s life and ministry illustrate the principle that the gospel is not only proclaimed with words but demonstrated through faithful service and Christlike character.
